Imapix is becoming a friend on flickr.com (there is no E). He takes the most poetic and amazing travel photos. Talk about being at the right place at the right time! And having the right skills, eye for beauty, and photographic equipment. I just wanted more people to see this lovely work. If you click on it, you can browse more of his photos!

Superman Sky

Superman Sky

Sometimes we all wish that Superman existed. Or that we WERE Superman (or Superwoman). Often, in creative ways, we ARE.
When you made that baby giggle, over and over.
When you brought that look of utter cullinary delight to your friends with your apple turnovers.
When you sat and let a friend dredge their soul in front of you, and just listened. . .

Things could be worse!

Instead of who you are, with all your problems and complaints, you could be: A beached Jellyfish!! Keep that in mind when you hit a bump in the road. Hey, at least the jellyfish has guts. . .and lot's of them, judging from this photo by a wonderful photographer from Iceland.

In sorrow for lives needlessly lost

There are only 3 drops of dew on the rose,
But they reminded me of tears.

I weep for our race who can't seem to learn:
That there IS enough to go around,
If we share and don't hoard.

That ALL religions are a way to acknowledge
That the universe is too vast and wonderful to fully understand,
Not a way to dominate or avoid domination.

That life is the most precious thing of all.

It's the stuff that makes flowers unfold,
Sunsets to linger,
Kisses so deep and warm,
And loves that last forever.

Three eggs. How much we take simple things for granted. Have you ever been amazed at the simplicity and grace of the shape of an egg? For the thinness of the shell, it's amazingly strong.

I'm starting to get a lot of comments at flickr!

This photo, for example was commented upon 35 times!! Yeah!

Ogebert is a wonderful new photographer on flickr that almost no one has discovered. His images are varied, creative, and full of nuance. And besides, he uses a camera under $300, just like ME.

I have been asked to do TWO volunteer photo shoots!

One for our church, where I had to pose 8 people and take pictures of two fancy rooms, then turn it into a photomontage.
You can see one of them here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/justsharing/19349466/
Now I’m starting to volunteer at an art studio, to take studio-quality photos of their art works for posting on the web. I’ll show some of that once I clear up the copyright issues.
I’m so Happy!!! Volunteering is a GREAT way to improve your skills.

I'm delighted with my new Volunteer duties!

I’m now a volunteer photographer at the Craft Alliance in University City (on the Delmar Loop). They are a non-profit group that has a gallery, to augment donations. They teach classes in pottery, fiber, jewelry-making, glass-blowing, etc:

I work (or rather play) for them Fridays from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. taking photographs of the art in their gallery for use on their website. I love Art, and almost finished a Master of Fine Arts in painting back in 1977. So it is completely delightful to be taking photos (which I LOVE) of art (which I also LOVE). Last Friday was my first day of what may be a 6-month job. Kris, the 20-something gallery director, and all the staff I met were so appreciative that I almost felt I had it dripping off me before I left. I’m excited about tomorrow, when I go there again.

Contentment reigns. I wish we could all live in this kind of world, and not in one where people kill for politica, religious, or any other reasons.
